Mid-Life Concerns

"There is no standard normal.  Normal is subjective.  There are seven billion versions of normal on this planet."      - Matt Haig

Do you feel that even though you’ve succeeded in many areas of your life, you’ve gotten lost somehow?  Maybe you’re confused or unhappy with where you are right now, or you’re questioning the choices  you’ve made that got you there.  Are things that used to make you happy or help you to cope no longer working?  I work with people in mid-life to help them discover what should come next, then find the path to get there.

Some examples of midlife crisis concerns include:

  • Loneliness and loss of purpose that comes up during “empty nest” syndrome

  • Questioning the choice to stay in an established relationship that has financial security but lacks emotional connection.

  • Confusion or shame associated with an extramarital affair

  • Questioning whether to stay in a career that brings wealth or prestige, but lacks personal fulfillment

  • Regret over missed opportunities in the past

  • Issues connected to past trauma or unresolved emotional wounds

  • Wondering “Is this all there is”

  • Struggling with health issues or acceptance of the aging process

This is a time in life when many of us feel pulled in multiple directions by competing concerns.  These all work to create stress on a level that feels tougher than before and can make you wonder if this is what you want.  My approach helps you examine all of the areas of your life so you can start to decide where you want to go from here to find yourself again.  With therapy, you can feel happy, vital and engaged in life again.
